4 Summer Essentials

Summer4

1. Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion
Soap & Glory is a fabulous cosmetics and skincare line available at Target... and all of the packaging is so pretty and retro. I recently picked up a bottle of this glow lotion and completely fell in love. It contains shea butter and is a pale, shimmery pink. It evens out and highlights skin tone. Best of all... it smells amazing! Click here to buy some.

2. Burt's Bees Super Shiny Lip Gloss
I've always been a fan of Burt's Bees natural products... I'm devoted to the original beeswax lip balm. However, I've never been much of a lip gloss fan. Most glosses I've used have either dried out my lips, slid all over my mouth, felt too sticky, or needed to be re-applied too much. But since I trust Burt and his beeswax, I gave this gloss a try. I'm smitten with the Nectar Nude shade. It goes on light and shiny. It tastes good. It stays in place. And it makes my lips feel really soft. Click here if you want a tube.

3. Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Body Double Mist
Leave it to Victoria's Secret to always have fabulous fragrances... but these top it all off for me! The bottles are filled with half skin conditioners and half fragrance. You shake it all up and then spritz it on. It leaves a wonderful scent and softness on your skin. My personal favorites are the Appletini (which smells like a delicious, crisp green apple) and Candy Baby (which smells like a mix of cotton candy, peppermint, and sugary goodness). 4. CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Blasting Mascara
I have tried sooooo, sooooooo, sooooooooooo many different mascaras. And finally I have found a keeper... made by CoverGirl. I love the fat orange tube. I love how it goes on thick without clumping. And I love how it makes my lash look so long and luscious. Click here to to pick some up.

These four products are my summer beauty must-haves.

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Pencil It In | Working the Pencil Skirt into Your Work Attire, Including 25 Examples with Do's and Don'ts

Starting this week, every Wednesday on The Lovely Side will be devoted to wardrobe, hair, and beauty content.  With summer internships right around the corner and interviews for real world jobs looming as well, I thought now would be a good time to delve into the world of office fashion.
Sarah, a reader, recently emailed me asking about how to style a pencil skirt for her "somewhat casual, somewhat professional workplace full of fashionable co-workers."  She's been lusting after pencil skirts at several stores, but been hesitant to purchase one for fear of looking bad in it and not knowing what to wear with it.

Aria's Room | Pretty Little Liars Decor

Welcome back for LU's 2nd room in the PLL series!  Today you're getting a glimpse into my favorite room on the show... Aria's room.  Aria Montgomery is the artistic, imaginative, bookworm of the bunch.  So it's no surprise that her room has an artsy, historic, romantic eclecticism atmosphere.  Plus, it's full of books.  My two words for Aria's attic space: Vintage Eclectic.  (Those happen to be my two favorite decorating words... so brace yourself for my soon-to-come swooning.)
