Guess what. I'm writing this post on zero sleep. Yup, I pulled an all-nighter. What on earth did I stay up all night on a Thursday doing? Well, it all started earlier today before I went to work. Sitting in my messy, half-packed bedroom, I decided that I should definitely be more than 10% moved in by now. So I texted my trusty guy friend and was all like "Yo! If you want to do something really rad on your totally boring Thursday night, you should help me move a few things!" He naively agreed to lend a hand.
And so the story begins. It started at 10 pm. Ended at 6 this morning. Packing, packing, packing. Loading stuff up in Bravie (my SUV). Driving over to the attic. Carrying stuff up to the second floor of a Victorian house, and then up to my attic bedroom.
We had a few breaks in there. Around 11 we made coffee and watched half of "The Craigslist Killer" on Lifetime. Around 1:00 am, we chit-chatted and laughed with my awesome new roomie. And then at 3:45 we hit up McDonald's for breakfast and pop.
So much lifting. So much punch-drunk, delirious laughter caused by sleep deprivation, overly sugared coffee, and fast food. Oh, and we also spent a good thirty minutes wedged in a tight, awkward staircase with my box spring. My
mover friend wanted to give up. To try again later. Or to just break my box spring and put it back together. I was two minutes away from a temper tantrum.
But then somehow we nudged the box spring just right and it budged! Hallelujah! We got it up the stairs!
More packing, lifting, loading, driving, moving, stairs.
I'm 90% moved in. Just clothes, shoes, toiletries, a chair, and random sundry items left. But all the furniture is moved in and I'll be sleeping there tonight.
If you're wondering what on earth possessed us to move all my stuff in one night... well... it's supposed to storm tonight. And then be reeeeally hot and humid all weekend. Not good moving weather. It was a nice, cool, clear night so it wasn't too miserable to break a sweat. Plus, we were amped up on coffee.
The hard part is over! I'll be decorating soon!
Right now, I need a nap. :S
