Nothing beats sleeping in on a Sunday morning after an eventful night with friends... then leisurely waking up and whipping up a delicious omelet filled with tomato basil mozzarella cheese, mushroom, tomato, green onion, onion, and cilantro with grapes, coffee, and a pageturner on the side. I'm a big believer that no matter how busy you are---no matter how overwhelmed by work, school, past-times, social lives---you must make time to read for pleasure. It's not about how fast you fly through the pages. It's not about getting to the finish. It's about sneaking in a few pages on break. It's about putting your nose in a book on the bus ride home. And novel reading is truly essential to my happiness. I'm currently reading Strapless by Deborah Davis.
Madame X (by John Singer Sargent) is my favorite painting ever. Her gorgeous black dress starkly contrasting with alabaster skin. Her elegant stance, shoulders, neck, and nose. Breathtaking! And Strapless is the story behind the strikingly beautiful model, the daring artist, and the controversy that swept through Paris' 19th century art world over a fallen strap. I'm a fourth of the way in and loving it. Deborah Davis fills the pages with interesting historical facts and anecdotes that I just eat up. And she does it in a way that doesn't feel like you're getting a history lesson. For the whole first section, I was transported back to Civil War era New Orleans. And now, each time I pick up the book... I'm an expatriate in Paris, living a sumptuous society life half the time and enjoying a bohemian lifestyle the other half. And while I truly love my Kindle, it feels good to hold a book in my hands again. :)

Right now I'm reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult as well as Design*Sponge at Home! I love summers because it gives me a break from school reading to focus on reading for fun!

I started reading The Invisible Bridge by Julie Orringer and I truly can't put it down! It has been a longggg time since I have been this in love with a story. I feel like I'm living in Paris and Hungary and I know all the characters by heart-their feelings and flaws. You can tell I love it(: I definitely recommend it! It's a beautiful, wonderful novel.
I'm reading a book called Comsicomics which is a collection of short stories about the beginning of the world where all the starts and rocks and anthropomorphized.
Right now I'm shamefully indulging in a string of paperback romances...but it's summer, right? Looking forward to checking out your suggestions and some of the ones in the comments!
I am 3/4 through Glittering Images by Susan Howatch. Delightful story of an Anglican canon teaching at Cambridge and the self discoveries he makes. Setting is 1937 England - just a few months after the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
I'm reading Gone with the Wind at the moment. in fact, when I discovered your blog a few weeks ago, it was you who inspired me to give it one more chance. I tried to read it years ago and couldn't get through the first couple of chapters. But I made it this time around and it's actually good. While I'm not a big fan of Scarlett as a person, I really enjoy the cultural aspect of the novel and the narrative is very well written and captivating.
