'A Colorful Way of Living' Book Giveaway

This giveaway is now closed. Click here for more contests.

It's 1982. Barbara Bradley Baekgaard (daughter of Vera Bradley—yes, that Vera Bradley) and her friend Patricia Miller are sitting in the airport during a layover. A parade of suitcases pass them by—each one as dull, drab, and bulky as the next. "This place could use some color!" Barbara remarked.

Those words set a colorful, creative idea into motion.

The women returned home to Indiana, got out a few Simplicity patterns and a Singer sewing machine, and set to work. The Vera Bradley Company was born.

This past week on April 4th, Barbara released A Colorful Way of Living—a lovely and inspiring guide to being more, creating more, and doing more—the Vera Bradley Way.

The good folks over at St. Martin's Press sent me a copy to review and it's been such a pleasure to read. Not only are the pages filled with those distinctly Vera colors and patterns—it's also blooming with insight and advice for life. From friendships and relationships to career and health. It's a floral printed blueprint for a lovely life. And that, my friends, feels right at home here on The Lovely Side.

Each section opens with a pretty quote page. This is one of my faves:

"Your workspace, or any space you spend time, should be a reflection of what you love. When you surround yourself with the people and patterns that give you a lift, your life often becomes more inspired and creative. Look for ways to add a little more inspiration to your life today."

Barbara and I are totally on the same page when it comes to doing you in your space.

I also love that this book doesn't have to be read cover to cover. I've been working through it chapter by chapter, but I'll admit I've also picked it up a few times and just flipped to a random section that caught my eye. It's a great go-to when you need to read something uplifting or you're craving a creativity boost or a fresh perspective. And because of that, it's definitely got a new home on my desk —within easy reach for a quick read when I'm feeling bogged down or have a bad case of writer's/blogger's block.

This would look lovely on your work desk, too. Or slipped into your Vera Bradley bag for reading on the go. Or on your nightstand—within easy reach for morning or bedtime inspiration.

Oh, and did I mention that I'm giving away one copy?!

Use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter. One lucky winner will be randomly selected and contacted on Monday, April 24. Giveaway is open to U.S. and Canada residents only. Prizing is courtesy of St. Martin's Press.

Hey! This book looks very pretty. A friend of mine from the American Copy Service told me about how books are printed and how they select paper for them. It is very interesting and not easy. Considering how printers are arranged, I realized that it is easier to call a specialist than to try to fix them yourself.
