Happy November 1st + Winner!!

(Flight Attendant: Jessica) :)

Hello lovelies!

I hope you all had a fabulous Halloween! Here are the results from the blog's nifty little poll about costumes. 86 of you voted and a whopping 40% went with some cute and fun yet easy and inexpensive to put together. I hope the 8 "Don't Know" individuals figured out their costumes in time for festivities. :)

My Halloween weekend was a blast. On Friday I dressed up as a "French Maid" and Saturday night I was a "Retro Flight Attendant." I shared the fun with my bf, his roomie, a new girlyfriend, and a whole bunch of dressed up college students. While wearing a costume is definitely the highlight of my Halloween, my second favorite part is seeing everybody else's costumes. (And dancing to Thriler, of course!)

The Burger King. The Hamburger Helper Hand. Elvis. Katy Perry. Burt & Ernie. Beaker. The White Power Ranger. And a whole slew of Lady Gagas, Robin Hoods, Nerds, and Snookis.

Since last night was a Sunday/school night, the festivities died down. I spent the "real" Halloween next to my bf eating chips+salsa and watching the scary/thriller movie "Open House." It's a weird movie, to say the least.

But what I really want to know about is your Halloween! What was the highlight of your spooktacular weekend? And what was the worst/grossest/wierdest thing to occur?

Aaaand for what you've been waiting for! The winner of the Fall Decor Giveaway---a $20 gift certificate good at any of 200+ CSN online stores! (I assigned each comment a number and used the Random Number Generator to pick a lucky winner.)

Thanks for having such a great giveaway! I've been dreading the lack of color that arrives with winter and I'm so thrilled to have a way to brighten up my dorm room now (and to procrastinate... shopping always seems like a much better option than writing papers).

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Aria's Room | Pretty Little Liars Decor

Welcome back for LU's 2nd room in the PLL series!  Today you're getting a glimpse into my favorite room on the show... Aria's room.  Aria Montgomery is the artistic, imaginative, bookworm of the bunch.  So it's no surprise that her room has an artsy, historic, romantic eclecticism atmosphere.  Plus, it's full of books.  My two words for Aria's attic space: Vintage Eclectic.  (Those happen to be my two favorite decorating words... so brace yourself for my soon-to-come swooning.)

Pencil It In | Working the Pencil Skirt into Your Work Attire, Including 25 Examples with Do's and Don'ts

Starting this week, every Wednesday on The Lovely Side will be devoted to wardrobe, hair, and beauty content.  With summer internships right around the corner and interviews for real world jobs looming as well, I thought now would be a good time to delve into the world of office fashion.
Sarah, a reader, recently emailed me asking about how to style a pencil skirt for her "somewhat casual, somewhat professional workplace full of fashionable co-workers."  She's been lusting after pencil skirts at several stores, but been hesitant to purchase one for fear of looking bad in it and not knowing what to wear with it.
