BloggerSpace: Megan from Charade

Today, Megan from Charade is sharing a collection chosen for her apartment.  Here's what she has to say about her picks:

I'm actually about to move into my very own flat (yes, I'm British!) so I have been thinking a lot about interiors just lately! I have quite an eclectic taste, so I hope to make each room a little bit different. The pieces I've put together here are consistent with my vision for my living/kitchen space. I included a mix of budget and expensive items, but I will most certainly be working to a budget when I am doing up my new place! I think what makes it 'me' is the quirky, slightly mismatched, retro feel. I really have to try not to go too 'old lady' when it comes to decors: here I tried to pair vintage things that I might find in charity shops (the place where I'll be buying much of my new homewares!) with modern pops of colour and clean white furniture.

I love bold type and sweet messages, so that's why I picked the 'Make Yourself at Home' cushion - I also like playing 'hostess with the mostess' so that's another reason! One of my favourite things to do is have friends round for coffee, and I love vintage sets like the one shown. I'd like to fill a whole wall with photos of friends and family, so that is the reason for all the colourful frames. And the popcorn maker is for movie nights cuddled up on the sofa!

I couldn't really say what inspired this set, I think mostly it's a mix of my love for all that is shabby chic (the bunting and jar) paired with a penchant for scandinavian style (the white desk and chair) topped off with a current fondness for the 1970's (the clock and coffee set).

Megan writes weekly fashion and lifestyle tips at Charade, a blog for stylish, successful students surviving on a budget.
Here's a round-up of the products Megan chose:

Thanks, Megan!

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done. I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia .

Penny's Apartment | Big Bang Theory

Aniela, a lovely reader from Germany, sent me an email requesting advice on recreating the style of Penny's apartment on Big Bang Theory.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
