So before settling down for my first-ever episode of The Walking Dead, I needed a snack. Popcorn? No, I hate how the kernels get stuck in my teeth. Pretzels and hummus? No, I've kinda outdone myself on the hummus lately. But I remembered a recipe I'd impulsively pinned earlier this week for some delicious looking saltines. I hopped on Pinterest and found the link to the blog Sweet Teeth for the recipe. Overjoyed, I found that it called for a few things---and I had them all on hand.
What do you need? Saltines. Oil (I used olive oil). A packet of ranch seasoning. Crushed red pepper. That's it. (Check out the Sweet Teeth blog for complete measurements. I used only one sleeve of saltines.) You basically drizzle the crackers with the oil, season with the ranch, add crushed red peppers to taste (I like it hot!), shake up so that all the crackers get coated, and pop in a 200-degree oven for about fifteen minutes.
They are soooo good! Sweet Teeth had me when she wrote, "I don’t like to joke about drugs, especially crack, but really, these
are so addicting. So, just say NO…if you must. You won’t eat just one,
I can guarantee you that. So, maybe you should say no. It’s up to
you, I’m not your mother."
I'm addicted. And I highly recommend sharing them with a friend and glass of pink moscato!
(Photo above is from Sweet Teeth. I was too eager to start chowing down and watch The Walking Dead to go find my camera.) Speaking of The Walking Dead... I'm pretty sure that the zombies are going to show up in my nightmares tonight. ...But that Rick Grimes is sure easy on the eyes! I'll be tuning in again next week. ;)
