New Obsession: Lavender Essential Oil from Aura Cacia + 3 Things to Make with It

Essential oils have piqued my interest for a while now, but I hadn't gotten around to dabbling in them. Until now.
Last week, I hit up the grocery store for these natural and non-toxic insect repellents for a little pest in my apartment. The item I was most excited to try? Lavender essential oil. I love the smell of lavender - it's just a bonus that it apparently keeps creepy crawlers away.

To make a long story short, I fell in love with Aura Cacia's lavender 100% pure essential oil. And in my excitement, I whipped three simple thing using what I had on hand.

1. Epsom Salt + Lavender Essential Oil
I shook a few drops of lavender oil into a small mason jar of
epsom salt to create a wonderful scented, calming bath soak.

2. Water + Lavender Essential Oil
A spray bottle of water plus some lavender oil equals an amazing
smelling room and fabric spray. My bedding, carpet, curtains, couch,
and the clothes hanging in my closet all got squirted and all smell fantastic.

3. Lotion + Lavender Essential Oil
I couldn't just stop with my apartment. After dabbing a bit of oil on my
wrists, I mixed a few drops with my St. Ive's oatmeal lotion so that
my skin could feel soft and smell lovely.

Let's just say that with all the lavender circulating in my apartment last night, I slept like a baby.

Do you use essential oils and / or aromatherapy? I'm so excited to get started and experiment with different scents and products. I'd love your suggestions. :)

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
