DIY Quickie: Quote Mug

Just a quick little diy project for your Tuesday afternoon.

1. Start with blank slate mug.

2. Write a favorite quote in permanent marker.

3. "Frankly, my dear... I don't give a damn."
(Rhett Butler is my homeboy.)

4. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes to set.

This was fun.  And easy.  I did it while sitting on the couch wrapped up in a fuzzy green blanket and watching Law & Order: SVU.  Best of all, this project cost me like $1.50.  (The mug was a clearance find at Wal-Mart.  And who doesn't have a Sharpie?)  I'm definitely going to make more of these with other favorite quotes. :)

I was inspired by the Jane Austen inspired mugs in the Brookish shop on Etsy:

What would you write on your mug?

I absolutely love this. I think it would be great to give as party favors - cheap AND you can personalize them - fabulous.
What a creative idea!!! I would either put

"wheresoever you go, go with all your heart."
(random quote i've always loved!)

or

“The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes - and ships - and sealing-wax -
Of cabbages - and kings -
And why the sea is boiling hot -
And whether pigs have wings."

(my favorite passage from alice in wonderland!)

How many times have you washed it in the dishwasher since? Thanks!

just wondering if this lasts when washing? have you seen any difference after washing by hand or after setting in the oven?

Tried this and it washed right off and baking and completely cooling. Sharpie does not work. Sorry :( You could go to a craft store and get a ceramic/porcelain marker. Those are supposed to work.

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
