What to Read this Summer: Historic Women, Bygone Eras

My historical fiction wish list has been growing for some time. But with summer do-it-yourself projects, weekend trips, and fun events, books weren't exactly part of my summer budget. I was scavenging my bookshelf to find something new to read. And then, I found Thrift Books.
Thrift Books is an online bookstore that sells used books at the lowest everyday prices on the internet. I know, I know... buying used books online is nerve-wracking. Will they even have the book you want? How will you know about the condition of the book without holding it?
Well, Thrift Books carries over 7 million books, including out-of-print and second-hand treasures. Their honest and accurate grading scales ensures that you know how the book's previous owner really treated it. Plus, there is FREE shipping on U.S. orders of $10 or more. And orders ship within 24 hours.

Before: Dull Beige & Dim // After: Light Gray & Bright

This Before & After from Apartment Therapy popped up in my feed today and I just had to share. I think a huge misconception about decorating is that if you paint a small or awkward space white or cream, it will look larger and more spacious. That's not always the case.

Old Screen Re-Purposed as a Jewelry Display

One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is stroll the Czech Village -- specifically, the adorable antique shops there. One of my favorite vintage stores is The Copper Alligator. It's a go-to place for old suitcases, vintage clothing, and retro things. I always find something unique there.

Poster: The Architecture of American Houses

My love for home goes beyond just interiors. Ever since I was little, I've entertained a sort of fascination with exteriors, too - specifically, types of houses. I had a 3D-Home Architect CD-ROM (do those even exist anymore?) that I'd "play" on for hours. I'd track down floor plans of Victorian Queen Annes, craftsman bungalows, and brownstone rowhouses. I'd "build" them in the 3D Home Architect program, then go on to add wall color, floor materials, and arrange furniture. I was obsessed.

Thrifted Finds: Old Screen, Eclectic Vinyl, and a Makeover Chair

I'm all about those bargains. Here's what I thrifted in the last couple weeks.

Chloe's Relaxing Apartment / Artsy Painting Studio

Chloe York works full-time at Memphis College of Art as the Community Education Associate and On-Site Manager. All of her free time is spent working on her paintings and promoting herself as an artist. And I'm so delighted that she's opened up her lovely space to share with us. It's packed full of the personality, artistic accents, and eclectic tidbits that I love to see in apartments.

Product Review: SlimQuick Pure Protein Vanilla

New SLIMQUICK Pure Protein is the only protein supplement designed specifically to help women lose 3 times the weight. It's made with BioPure Green TeaTM, a natural extract that's been shown in a published clinical study to help overweight women lose 3 times the weight versus dieting alone, in just 13 weeks. Besides the BioPure Green TeaTM, it contains natural ingredients including whey protein, antioxidants, calcium, and natural flavors. And it's available in Double Chocolate and French Vanilla.
The good folks at SLIMQUICK sent me over the vanilla flavor to try. Here's what I think so far:

Bedroom/Office Swap!

I've lived in my new place for over half a year now. Every room has been painted and fixed up except for the kitchen and bathroom. And I've managed to do fairly well when it comes to re-arranging. You see, I inherited a compulsive furniture re-arranger gene from my grandma. ;) We like to re-position chairs, couches, and tables - and sometimes, when we're feeling crazy, swap entire rooms.
