Product Review: SlimQuick Pure Protein Vanilla

New SLIMQUICK Pure Protein is the only protein supplement designed specifically to help women lose 3 times the weight. It's made with BioPure Green TeaTM, a natural extract that's been shown in a published clinical study to help overweight women lose 3 times the weight versus dieting alone, in just 13 weeks. Besides the BioPure Green TeaTM, it contains natural ingredients including whey protein, antioxidants, calcium, and natural flavors. And it's available in Double Chocolate and French Vanilla.

The good folks at SLIMQUICK sent me over the vanilla flavor to try. Here's what I think so far:

Right away, this stuff is soooo sweet. For someone who is easily over-sweetened, this fulfills my sweetness intake for a day. If you have a hard time skipping out on sugar cookies and other baked goodies, you'll love this stuff. It's like drinking a cupcake.

First, I tried it with water. I was in a hurry on my lunch and doubled the serving as a meal replacement so that I could get through the rest of my busy afternoon at work. I poured the powder into some water in a mason jar, put on the lid, and shook for a good minute. All the powder dissolved and it didn't turn out clumpy or chalky. However, just adding it to water ended up a little too thin for me. Also, doubling the serving was too, too much. I was so full. Looking at the amount didn't seem like much, but it was very filling and a lot to get down.

Next time, I tried it with the advised amount. It didn't seem like hardly anything to drink, but it was definitely enough. I also used water and the mason jar, but added ice cubes this time. It watered it down more, but I liked it better that way.

Most recently, I shook the powder up in vanilla almond milk. Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! This is my favorite way to drink it. The less-sweet vanilla in the almond milk helps to balance out the super-sweet vanilla of the protein powder. It's still definitely like drinking dessert though, so you sweet-tooths out there will enjoy it.

And I also got a little crazy and sprinkled a serving into my oatmeal. Yum. I'm not sure if eating it does the same thing as drinking it? But it sure was tasty. Next time, I'll throw in some almonds or walnuts for some crunch and to balance out the sweetness. Or maybe some berries! I also plan on adding a smaller amount of powder to a bit of almond milk and using it in my coffee and iced coffee.

I can't really compare this to other protein drinks or powders because honestly, I haven't tried any others. I've heard other people talk about chalkiness and bad tastes, but this isn't chalky and it tastes good -- just slightly too sweet for me. But I'm finding ways to play down the sweetness with oatmeal, milk, and even berries.

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
