One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is stroll the Czech Village -- specifically, the adorable antique shops there. One of my favorite vintage stores is The Copper Alligator. It's a go-to place for old suitcases, vintage clothing, and retro things. I always find something unique there.
A couple of weekends ago, G and I were strolling toward a favorite brewery when I decided to pop into The Copper Alligator for "like two seconds." I scored this fabulous old screen there... and for 50% off! I loved its worn green patina and large size. G wasn't totally tuned into what I planned to do with it, but he happily stuck it in the back of his truck for me before we went off for beers.
When I got it home, it went straight to my newly relocated bedroom. The walls are that bright chartreuse, but there's a lot of red, cream, and darker green incorporated into the room -- so this screen fit right in and helped to balance out the vibrant walls with a little antique patina.
Since this room is smaller than the room my bedroom was previously located in, there's not a lot of extra space -- especially on this wall at the foot of the bed. So it was the perfect place to hang the screen, situate a mirror, and place a small table with one of my vintage typewriters.
I hit up Home Depot for some wire that I could trim then shape into hooks to hang my jewelry. I love the look and it keeps my necklaces, bracelets, and earrings out of reach of Dahlia's playful paws. :)
P.S. Excuse the terrible quality of my photos lately. I've misplaced my point-and-shoot camera and I'm due for a new phone. You can bet I'll be picking a phone that takes better photos! ;)
