Spray Paint... or Bust!

This is Callias.  Several years back, I drooled over him at a hometown antique store until finally putting down the $15 to take him home.  He symbolizes my huge interest and love for the ancient Romans.  And, well... let's just be honest here:  He's a stud.  But having moved with me several times, his white porcelain veneer had taken a bit of a beating.  I decided it was time to give him a little re-vamp... in the form of spray paint.

As I started off spraying him, I started to get a bit worried.  You see, not everything spray paints well.  Some surfaces just don't cut it.  And as I sprayed Callias, the paint separated all weird.  (He has a really porous surface.)   However, it was too late to turn back.  So I gave him special attention---several extra thin coats rather than a couple thicker ones.  It probably would have been easier had he not insisted on getting his LMFAO on.  (The wiggling annoyed the heck outta me.)

But look at how he turned out!  He practically glistens.

I know you're probably wondering how I can adore such a womanizing, cocky little Roman ladies' man.  But Callias and I are just friends.  He hangs out on my desk most of the time, so he really doesn't "get around" as much as he'd like you to think he does. ;)

Haha! Love this post. You are on a spray-painting spree! I love your bust (that sounds bad, but I think you know what I mean. haha).

That's a bust of the Naples Narcissus - not Greek at all - hope it wasn't a real antique as you've ruined it!

Thanks for the extra info! Nahh, it wasn't a real antique worth anything. ;) Good thing though!

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
