Gift Basket Idea: Goodies for the Bibliophile

Coming from a family of bookworms that could never have enough books - and being a bibliophile myself - I couldn't pass up curating a gift basket for the readers out there. A good bookworm basket begins with a good book, but unless your dear reader has a wishlist of books (which they very well might!) it could be hard to pick out a book for them. In the case of no wishlist, instead buy them a beautiful copy of a book you know they love.

Rather than stashing everything into a basket, pick up a book-themed tote. I love this Poe-printed one. Whether your reader has their nose in a novel or their eyes glued to a Kindle screen, they can toss their current pageturner into bag on-the-go. For the bookworm's cozy reading space, add in a framed print that incorporates a literary quote or a cool book-themed decor accessory - like this clever clock that will fit right in on any bookshelf.

Literary themed jewelry can be fun, too. I love this Great Gatsby East Egg / West Egg bestie necklace - perfect for if you share a love of the book with your recipient. And lastly, I finished off with a fun mug. Every reader likes to hanker down with a good book and their beverage of choice - be it tea, coffee, or something a little stronger.

What's your favorite book - ever?

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Aniela, a lovely reader from Germany, sent me an email requesting advice on recreating the style of Penny's apartment on Big Bang Theory.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
