Lovely Tech: Acer Iconia Tab 8 A1-840 FHD #TabletCrew

Recently, Intel sent a piece of tech my way to review: the new Acer Iconia Tab 8 A1-840 FHD. I've been enjoying using it for work and blog related things as well as just playing around with it. In the coming weeks, As part of the Intel Tablet Crew, I'll be sharing my thoughts about the tablet here on The Lovely Side - favorite apps, productivity tools, and even a fun way to help decorate!

Today, I wanted to kick off the review with a bit of background information and my first impression of the Acer Iconia Tab 8 - as well as open up the floor for your questions, which I'll answer in upcoming posts.

Firstly, I'm a sucker for packaging... and the lovely box this tablet came in did not disappoint:

The tablet is sleek, chic, and a lovely shade of very pale, metallic, silvery white. Ever since the cute purple netbook I bought from Acer in college, I've thought Acer does a pretty good job with their aesthetics. The elegant look and sophisticated feel of this little beauty really impressed me. It's slim, it's light, and it's a delight to hold in my hands. And it's the perfect size to slip into almost any of my bags/purses.

The display is sharp and vibrant and the sound very pleasing. Plus, the anti finger print coating on the screen keeps it clean and clear. It has dual speakers, a front and back camera, audio mic and jack, and ports for micro USB, micro HDMI, and micro SD - as well as a power button and volume key on the side.

In the web-browsing and video playing I've done so far, the tablet is high speed and loads quickly. I'm really loving the long battery life of 7.5 hours. Plus, since it's Android it can share the chargers I use on my phone. And on weekends at my boyfriend's, I don't need to bring an extra charger since he has an Android device, too.

So far, I've played with some fun new apps, used my tablet for a work presentation, and (of course) did some bedtime reading on it with the Kindle Reader app.

As I share more about my experience with the Acer Iconia Tab 8, what would you like to know?

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Aniela, a lovely reader from Germany, sent me an email requesting advice on recreating the style of Penny's apartment on Big Bang Theory.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
