Autumn Beauty Arsenal: Gems + Copper + Baked Goods + Wine

Hands down - autumn is my favorite season to dress for. The layers, the colors, the textures... it's all so warm, cozy, and romantic. So it should come with no surprise that I'm also partial to fall beauty. I get to revel in my fair skin, match my auburn hair to turning leaves, and pull out the deep burgundy and berry lip-stains. Oh yes, fall is splendid.

I rounded up my arsenal of autumn beauty items, so without further ado...

Jewel Tones
O.P.I.'s Pompeii Purple is my new favorite nail color. It's a vibrant metallic fuchsia that I just can't get enough of. You'll also catch me wearing lipstick as red as rubies and eyeliners in hues of emerald, amethys, and sapphire - but not all at once. I like to let these showstopping shades shine against neutral backdrops.

Warm Metallics
Those neutral backdrops will mostly likely include glittery gold, burnished bronzes, and my favorite: polished coppers. I'm really digging Elf's chubby eye shadow stick in brown. The burnished bronze hue creates a subtle, office-appropriate smoky eye for daytime. A little extra easily transforms work-friendly into happy-hour-sultry. I also have come to love Elf's bronzer. It's not all brown! The pad of shimmery peach makes it easy to blend the bronzer on my fair complexion.

Cozy Fragrances
What would a beauty round-up be without some smell-good products? On my recent vacation with the bf to visit his parents, my hair scrunch spray leaked out in the suitcase. G's mom came to the rescue with Paul Mitchell's Twirl Around curl definer. It gave me such nice, soft, bouncy waves during my vay-cay - and it smells absolutely scrumptious. Speaking of scrumptious, I'll be slathering Hempz Treats Vanilla Creme Brulee Delicious Body Lotion all over my skin this fall. I love a good excuse to smell like baked goods. And 'tis the season. Burberry London is also my go-to perfume for the colder seasons.

Shiraz
I'll let you in on a little secret. While I am a self proclaim beer nerd who can spend nearly an hour making a selection in the beer aisle and will almost always choose a local craft brewery for date night or lunch or happy hour... sometimes I just want shiraz. I love a glass of this deep red wine in the evenings. However, I don't love waking up with seriously wine-stained lips. The little purply red splotches are nearly impossible to get rid of. (They don't just wash off.) I've discovered that my makeup remover pads do the trick. However, I love wearing a wine or berry hued lip-stain in the fall, which covers up the splotches in just seconds in the morning. So bring on the shiraz!

What are your autumn beauty must-haves this year?

This is the perfect fall post: those colors look gorgeous and its a helpful guide for your fellow fair skin friends! I cannot wait to go shopping. I know this might be a lot to ask, but can you please consider posting info and how-to's on your beauty/hair routine? I am totally lost on makeup (which is sad for a college senior) so any help would be appreciated!

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Aniela, a lovely reader from Germany, sent me an email requesting advice on recreating the style of Penny's apartment on Big Bang Theory.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
