I love mulling over paint colors. There was a brief period in my childhood that my dream was to grow up and become the person that gets to name paint colors. I would create my own paint swatches in Microsoft Paint. Not even joking. Nowadays, not much has changed. (I'd still really love to be the person that names colors.) I love when decorating sites or paint companies create fun, personality-based activities to pinpoint your perfect paint colors. I stumbled across this one by Pittsburgh Paints:
It's a mostly visual activity, where you pick the images that speak most to you. You should do these as impulsively as possible. Don't sit there and mull over the images - you'll end up second-guessing yourself. Just go with what calls out to you first, what catches your eye.

You even get to pick out dream destinations and favorite foods. It may not be an entirely scientific way to narrow down paint colors - but it sure is fun!

After you've gone through the nine slides and made your choices, you're given your results - as well as a secondary result. My primary color family: Color Crush. Bright, vibrant, juicy colors.
You can click through to see your color palette and some examples of the colors used in real spaces. Orange, chartreuse, turquoise, and purple... Now where have I seen these colors before? Oh, that's right! My apartment. ;) I'd say this game is pretty accurate in determining colors you're comfortable living with - at least in my case.
My secondary colors are rich jewel tones. I'd say that's spot on considering my love for rich grays, deep purples, dark teals, and midnight blues.
Head over to Pittsburgh Paints to play the Color Game for yourself. Come back and share a comment with your results! I'd love to hear if you think it accurately pinpointed your favorite color schemes or opened up your mind to new hue ideas.
P.S. This isn't a sponsored post. Just a suggestion for a cool paint color tool. :)
