Pantone Color(s) of the Year: Rose Quartz and Serenity

Pantone just announced their color - errr, colors - of the year for 2016: Rose Quartz and Serenity... a gentle pink and airy sky blue. And the design world is all a flurry! I find it funny that people are upset that the colors remind them of gendered baby stuff. (Rolling my eyes.) For the me, the colors are reminiscent of the colors used in my grandma's wedding or (a bit less sentimental) Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, which is one of my most favorite movies ever.

*Swoon* I really need to watch Marie Antoinette again.

I do have to confess: I'm a teensy bit disappointed though. Light pink and pale blue are just not colors that I decorate with or wear on a regular basis. Colors of the year or not, you likely won't see them popping up in my apartment.

...But! Don't let my fondness for saturated jewel tones and moody grays deter you from bringing some Rose Quartz and Serenity into your lovely living space.

Here's some inspiration:

Don't mind me while I light my Voluspa Proscecco Rose candle and drink tea whilst lounging on my pink fainting couch wearing a cozy sweater and gorgeous rose quartz jewelry!

Clear skies ahead! This color has fresh start and sunny vacation written all over it. So I'm going to slip into this sky blue jacket and mod sunglasses, then plan out the year's adventures in a crisp new journal... on a big jet plane.

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
