Bonnie & Clyde Wedding Inspiration Board (Reader Request)

When a lovely reader dropped me a message requesting ideas and inspiration for a "Bonnie & Clyde Wedding" with a twist, I couldn't resist. I've never done weddings before! Having only created decorating and outfit inspiration boards for myself and blog readers, I thought: What a perfect excuse to merge decor and fashion together. The "twist" that I put on this Bonnie & Clyde inspired affair is some good old-fashioned rustic romance.

I imagined Bonnie & Clyde throwing a surprise wedding bash in a secluded barn. Guests arrive by careening through the countryside, following a hand-drawn map on the back of invitations. (On the front of the invites: a newspaper style account of the couple's epic love story.) When they arrive at barn, they find their way inside by the glow of Edison bulbs strung from rafter to rafter. They type their names on a vintage Corona and settle in with a mason jar of craft beer or moonshine.

Favors are passed out in little burlap sacks reminiscent of a bygone era's bank money sacks - saltwater taffies nestled inside. There's a rustic photobooth set up with vintage accessories and toy guns so that guests can perfect their vintage poses and print out a sepia toned souvenir to take home.

The bride wears a startlingly short ivory dress with lace and pleated detailing - it's loose silhouette allows her to dance with the best of them. Her accessories are simple: ivory and jade t-strap pumps and jade earrings. She wears a lace veil and bright red lipstick, while her bridesmaid is dressed in a pale jade dress and matching mary-jane heels. (The gentlemen wear bow-ties.)

Mini apple pies are served. More moonshine and brew is imbibed. A folksy grassroots band from the next town over plays. And after all is said, done, and danced, the couple makes their getaway in a classic automobile.

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Aniela, a lovely reader from Germany, sent me an email requesting advice on recreating the style of Penny's apartment on Big Bang Theory.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
