Weekend Wear | Colorful Jackets + $6 Scarves

This weekend I'll be going on a mini road-trip with the boyfriend for a day or two of adventures in eastern Iowa. And as I'm planning my two outfits for the fun-packed, beer-packed trip... I find that I'm quite smitten with polka dots this week.

It all started with the black and white polka dotted scarf I scored for just $6. I've been looking for something similar for a long time. I'm wanting to wear it with my red leather jacket, but I'm not sure on the rest of the pieces. Above, I styled the scarf and jacket simple but sassy with a plain white tee, black skinny  jeans, and black riding boots. There's a bit of a retro, rockabilly vibe going on there.

On the other day of the trip, I'm working around a beige and black polka dotted top sorta like the one pictured above. (Although mine is less frilly, more flowy, and has black lace details.) I also scored a soft, grass green scarf for only $6. I love the look of bold green and rich teal together, so I'd like to pair it with my dark turquoise corduroy blazer. Above, I kept the rest of the outfit neutral with khaki skinnies and greige combat-style boots.

What do you think? Any other ideas for the B&W Polka Dot Scarf + Red Leather Jacket pairing or Green Scarf + Teal Blazer pairing?  As always, I love your lovely suggestions. :)

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
