Firmoo Glasses Review & 4 Favorite Fashion + Frames Looks

Jeepers creepers, where'd you get those peepers?! Firmoo! Say hello to my lovely new specs: retro style, designed for small faces, clear frames on the front, tortoise on the ear pieces.  Firmoo is an online eyewear boutique that offers a huge selection of frames at affordable prices. From trendy to classic and nerdy to retro, there's a pair there for every personality.

Firmoo generously hooked me up with a new pair - just in time for Spring! After "trying on" pair after pair after pair using Firmoo's easy-peasy virtual try on widget... I bravely settled on a pair of clear frames with tortoise ear pieces. I wasn't sure if I'd love them, but I liked that they were different and unique. (I go for stuff like that.)

On Left: That's my "Yay, new glasses!" face. On Right: A slightly more serious pic.

I warmed up those these babies really fast. Simply put: I love them. Why?
  • They fit my face perfectly - snug but not tight. None of that sliding down my nose stuff. Turns out, this retro style was designed for small paces, so they're not massive on my face and don't slide down my nose. Some days I love wearing a big, black pair of glasses - some days I want something more subtle like this pair.
  • The clear frames don't hide my face or eye makeup. It's so much fun to play around with makeup with these frames. Since they're clear, light passes through and they don't cast any shadows on my eyes. (Eye shadows are never a good thing.) I've been playing around with everything from dramatic cat-eyes to colored liner to really lush, dramatic mascara.
  • They're well made, durable, and high quality - for only $39. And free shipping. You can't beat that.

Upload a picture of yourself and try them on right now!

For me, glasses are the ultimate accessory. I love them more than shoes and purses. Glasses completely pull a look together. Here a few of my favorite fashion ensembles to wear with this pair of frames:

Outfit: Olive skinny jeans with a striped blouse, snakeskin flats, and a gold boyfriend watch.
Makeup: Simple eyeliner, curled eyelashes, and a punch of color with coral lipstick.

Makeup: A thin cat-eye, long eye lashes, and a bold red lip.

Makeup: A pink peach blush, natural toned lipstick, and lush lashes.

Occasion: Brunch &Mimosas with a Girlfriend

DIY Cat Barrier for Under $100 (See-Through, Climb-Proof, and Too-Tall-To-Jump)

ICYMI: I gave up Cotton after deciding that after trying so many things, my two adopted cats Dahlia and Cotton were just never going to get along. Long story short: I missed her. And Cotton's back. And Dahlia's not going anywhere. My heart is big enough to keep trying. And my apartment is big enough that if I need to keep them separated long term (or permanently), it can be done.
I'm going to write-up a separate post about some of the solutions I've tried, how they worked, who they worked on, and what I'll be trying next. But in this post, I wanted to share the main 'piece de resistance' of having both cats in my apartment: an un-climbable, un-jumpable, see-through barrier to separate Cotton and Dahlia.

Aniela, a lovely reader from Germany, sent me an email requesting advice on recreating the style of Penny's apartment on Big Bang Theory.

Blair's Room | Gossip Girl Decor

Manhattan's debutante Blair Waldorf happens to be my favorite Gossip Girl character.  Her behavior and feelings vary from snobbish to sensitive, but she always (except for a few rare occasions) looks and acts totally pulled together.  Her luxurious bedroom is fit for a queen---and is as pulled together as her preppy fashion ensembles.
